Summer Reading

Last summer, I think I read well close to a hundred books. This summer is a little different and I really think it is mainly because I am super busy. But if you have a book that I should really read, tell me and I will give it a shot. I read books pretty fast by the way, so don't be surprised when I have finished a 500 page book in a day and a half ;)

Have a great Sunday, and a fun week ahead!

Your surroundings effect you

I realized today as I was in the car, that if I didn't live in Germany, there wouldn't be as much influence of castles and medieval in my stories I don't think. Could that be possible? I believe that if I had never seen a real castle, let alone a dozen, I wouldn't have the real life image of what it would look like, or experiencing the medieval markets to give me the feel and ideas of actually be the character in the book going to or through these places. Am I right? Anyhow, I am off to writing more of The Prince's Assassin for a bit before dinner, then relaxing for the night. One week and two days down in America. another month to go :)

~In America~

So I just arrived back today, in Colorado from a week long missions trip in El Paso, Texas. What an amazing and life changing trip. It isn't my first sort of thing like it, but it was great, and different in many ways. I can't wait for my family to fly out tomorrow and then we spend our time in America for the summer! I will also be doing a book signing here in Colorado and in Washington! So excited :) I will write and update more later.

Have a good day!

Question #2

Answering questions from anyone and everyone! As long as it isn't a ridiculous or rather vague question. Or a question that would give anything away!

Here is question #2 answered. Watch only if you have read the book please, I don't mean to spoil for anyone.

Opportunities everywhere!

So I submitted an entry a little bit ago to the Germany Ja magazine because they are looking writers. I talked with the woman who is the manager and I have to say that I was stunned when I heard back from her. She said that I had an amazingly unique voice and that she would love me to be on the team. She wants me to do a column in the magazine that is for people who are moving overseas, and what life is like living in germany as a foreigner from America.
I believe it can directed towards young adult or adults and I get to answer questions from people and share my travels. It is amazing because I have been keeping track of all of my trips, taking pictures and writing in journals and now I get to put them into a magazine!
It just goes to show what you can accomplish if you try. :) And all because my mom saw a post on facebook and shared it with me, did i then email the lady and ask for info :) It is the Living in Germany story by the way. I will put some of it up on the Living in Germany …

The Prince's Assassin Back cover!

Does the length of the book matter?

In the process of writing first draft of book two and it's almost the same length as book one already! About 300 book pages! And I am not even done yet! Does it matter if it is much longer than the first one? Or should I keep it around the same number of pages?

How about a Quote

So I am procrastinating from everything I have to do right now. So how about I give you one of my favorite quotes? I found it when I was in 6th grade, and it has been hanging framed in my bedroom ever since, with two other ones. I think they are the things that always kept my hopes up for writing.

1. "If there's a book you really want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it." -toni morrison

2. "If I fall asleep with a pen in my hand, don't remove it- I might be writing in my dreams." -Danzae Pace (that has actually happened a lot to me ;)

3. "As for my next book, I am going to hold myself from writing it till I have it impending in me. Grown heavy in my mind like a ripe pear; pendant, gravid, asking to be cut out or it will fall." -Virginia Woolf

Have a great weekend!
